Maybe it still appears in
/var/lib/dpkg/status? If it is, try deleting the entry from there.I’ve sometimes encountered error 1 when the extraction failed because the downloaded deb-archive was corrupted. Deleting the corresponding deb-file in
/var/cache/apthelped in my case.
