what does this consist of? Well, it’s easy, whenever you install a new distribution of Linux, don’t customise anything, nothing please!! Out of the box experience, you may install software but that’s all. And if you are already using a customised distro, then delete the .config file and reboot, but please be careful and check your distribution wiki before doing that o.o

This really defeats the purpose of using linux distros imo. The whole point was freedom of customisation and truely make it my own.
If I wanted a lock stock barrel experience I would just stick with Windows or macOS.

So… install a minimal distro image and the usual with the only caveat of being forced to type something that I want to run in the CLI instead of setting up hotkeys? Such challenge, much horror.
I like challenges like just like any other person, but aren’t they supposed to be… fun, at least? Of If I wanted to do what you’re describing I’d just go back to Windows or Mac
I enjoy Linux so much that I think vanilla distros are a good experience, for example the main theme of Linux Mint is green, I wouldn’t feel ok with changing the color!! Or for example, Ubuntu is orange, well I will use the OS with orange colors.

I’m very confused about what OP considers customization. My only experience has been setting up my home server so far, so maybe I’ll be compelled to do more “customizing” when I make the switch on my PCs.
Does installing a GUI on Ubuntu Server already break that rule? Or is it a success because it’s only software? It’s definitely not “out of the box”.

Am I allowed to add my printer? What about setting up my screen resolution? If I scale the fonts to match, that’s dangerously close to “customization”. Can I switch to dark theme?
I can install software, but what about shell extensions that are in my distro’s repository? That’s software, but also customization.all of that is yes!! You can change to dark mode only, you can set up resolution, what matters is keeping the distro brand wallpaper, colors, etc, intact!! It’s to keep it simple.
