I’m noticing an influx of Reddit users today, maybe revolving around their weird bug they had today. I know this question pops up semi regularly, but for those just getting their foot in the door maybe we can help show them what else is out here on the Fediverse to help them get started.
I’ll kick us off, to any newcomers, I help run the following communities, and we’d welcome you to any of them. (Shameless self promotion I know, but I hope more people join in sharing theirs as well)
-
!satisfactory@lemmy.world (https://lemmy.world/c/satisfactory)
- A community based around the factory building game, Satisfactory
-
!taylorswift@poptalk.scrubbles.tech (https://poptalk.scrubbles.tech/c/taylorswift)
- A community for all Swifties, in our Lemmy era
-
!popheads@poptalk.scrubbles.tech (https://poptalk.scrubbles.tech/c/popheads)
- A community for all things pop music
For help and support, taken right from the sidebar of AskLemmy here
-
!newtolemmy@lemmy.ca (https://lemmy.ca/c/newtolemmy)
- Thanks to @otter@lemmyca for this one, help and guides for folks new to Lemmy
-
!lemmy_support@lemmy.ml (https://lemmy.ml/c/lemmy_support)
- Community for asking questions about how to use Lemmy, troubleshooting, etc
-
!fediverse@lemmy.ml (https://lemmy.ml/c/fediverse)
- Community revolving around the fediverse, how it operates, new applications, and items that may be above just Lemmy.
An important one to kick off, we do have an entire community just for this over at !communitypromo@lemmy.ca (https://lemmy.ca/c/communitypromo) for a more long-running conversation
For new users, I hope you find some communities that you enjoy! For current users, share your favorite communities that new folks may be interested in! (Please use both the !@_ notation and give a link, to help our new fediverse people out in learning how it works)
I’m a mod of !startpages (https://kbin.social/m/startpages), which is all about the startpage/new tab page that resides in your browser. Right now It only has a few posts, so it’d be great to have some more users.
A community for EMS professionals that I manage and desperately want to see more activity in:
!ems@lemm.ee (https://lemm.ee/c/ems)
A community for sharing spooky stories, doesn’t matter if they’re true or not:
funny how one of the most popular subs in reddit still don’t have a vary active community in lemmy. Will sub for hope
Had to look up what “EMS” is, it’s not referred to as this in my country and your “about” section didn’t provide any more description - you might get more international users if you use a more general term like “emergency service workers” or “ambulance” or something like that
Great advice, thank you!
Thank you!
Yay! Subbed your EMS one
Thank you!
gotta promote !gothindustrial@lemmy.world for industrial, goth, and adjacent music styles!?!!
I’m going to shamelessly plug the community I just made for Ambigrams.
I guess self promotion but if any anime fan wants to find out what anime that he found is from scenes or speech and so on, you can try and see if anyone ever responds on !whatanime@lemmy.world
I started a fantasy basketball community here for anyone interested. I try to share helpful articles I find and plan to do more if it grows.
!fantasy_basketball@lemmy.mlNot a specific community, but check out everything on mander.xyz if you haven’t yet. Lots of great science related communities on there. It’s already a pretty active instance but would love to see the communities on there get even more love.

Has sooo much potential. I can feel the memes flowing through it.
Great community
I think you meant “two hi” at the end there
Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn’t work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !tvtoohigh@lemmy.world
Huh. I am positive these people would say my TV is too high. But, I like it where it is.
If I’m standing in front of the screen, it is at eye-height. If I’m reclining back on the lounge, I am looking up at it without having to cram my neck downward.
So, I basically disagree with this whole community’s premise.
if someone wants to talk board games in Spanish, you’re welcome to join !juegosdemesa@feddit.cl
4 posts in sum in those two communities
Yes; I just found it important context/properties of them
Some may be interested in growing them, others not
Barely any content also makes it less clear what it is or will be about, to what degree - and if there even will be more content.
!moviesandtv@lemm.ee is a pretty great community if you’re into movies and tv. It’s where a lot of the regulars from moviesandtv@lemmy.film went after the lemmy.film instance was shut down.
For books and reading related: !fiction@literature.cafe !books@lemmy.ml !classics@literature.cafe !literature@beehaw.org For discworld fans: !discworld@lemmy.ml
I like the literature.cafe crowd. Lovely people.
Other communities to subscribe to for more of this
!newtolemmy@lemmy.ca (for new users to ask any questions, including communities)
!communityPromo@lemmy.ca (same purpose as this post)
!newcommunities@lemmy.world (for brand new communities as they’re made)
Edit: oops you already linked some of this, thanks for making the post!
