@FiskFisk33@startrek.websiteto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are the "AK-47" of items? (cheap, durable, just works)16•5Mit has software for the temp control and such

PFAS are extremely inert, yet they wreak all kinds of havoc in the bodies of humans and animals.

Scientists thought, as you say, that them being chemically inert means they wont be dangerous to living creatures. Sadly they were proven wrong on that.
@FiskFisk33@startrek.websiteto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•why do a bunch of gas stations have 88 octane cheaper than 87?32•10ME10 has an energy density of 108,608 BTU/gal and E15 has an energy density of 106,814 BTU/gal.
source: http://www.airimprovement.com/reports/national-e15-analysis-final.pdf
This gives us tha the 88 octane has 106.8/108.6 ≈ 0.983 times the energy density of the 87.
1-0.983 = 0.017
The correct number is that the 88 needs to be 1.7% cheaper than 87 to give equivalent distance per dollar.
LLMs are fantastic tech, good at many things. Math is not one of those things.
a HDD can fail at any given time. It could fail within a week of buying it, could last over a decade.
What I’m saying is, if you have data you don’t want to lose, yes you should be worried. Keeping backups is the only safe option.
