When my eldest daughter was born we were overnight at the hospital and had a huge window in our room. My wife had listened to Florence and the machine a lot while pregnant and we are big music lovers who often have music playing around us. We were up at night feeding our first born worrying about being new parents and fidgeting over what we didn’t understand. In the background Florence and the machine was playing quietly. Suddenly a massive rainstorm started seemingly out of nowhere. Crashing lightning. Smashing down torrential rain. Building shaking thunder. We turned up the music and it was like they were just playing for us. It lasted about an hour and I will never forget it.
It was an amazing welcome to the world for our first baby who is now a preteen and your story reminded me of it.
I worked at hockey arenas for a long time. Went out to put the garbage in the dumpster on night to two people fucking right there. They didn’t bother stopping and I just chucked the garbage in the bin and fucked off.
Oddly enough about a week later walking home I saw a chick giving a guy head as he drove down the street. It was an odd week.

In my 30’s I worked with people with developmental disabilities. There was a 45 year old man I worked with occasionally who had brain damage from a fever when he was a baby. He had a strange fetish for dirty diapers and could not control it at all. If he smelled or saw a dirty diaper he was getting in there and there was no stopping it. I got called by his worker one day to help get him out of a dumpster. He found a bag of dirty diapers and was like a dog on a poop pile, rolling around and smearing it everywhere. Gross.
Lots of sailors look for crew of varying levels when crossing with personal boats. Lots of work aboard for tall ship experiences as well. We live in a place where there are loads of sail boats on the east coast of North America and folks are looking all the time. Head to a marina and start asking around. Find sailing groups on facecrack or any social media and advertise yourself. Many will require experience but many will train you as well.
Oh no I got to be real special. It was leiomyosarcoma. I was a paramedic for years fell down some stairs once with a patient when I was younger. Had some torn muscles and all that. Went on with life for 30 years with “a sore back” all the time. Oh well. Young and dumb right. One day I kicked a kitchen chair leg passing by. Turns out I couldn’t feel my foot…or the the other one either. Within 6 months I was paralyzed chest down. They chopped it out and I got major radiation treatments that will probably give me cancer before I die. Fun times.
Moral of the story…get your shit checked out.
We live in Canada in a very rural area. We’ve opened our door to strangers. Gave people a place to sleep and a hot meal, even let them live with us for a time to get their feet under themselves. I’d hope someone would do the same for my family if they needed it.
Side note: one of these folks is actually here today having supper with us and hanging with the kiddos. She’s got a job and a house now and going back to school in September. Two years ago we let her set her tent up here and use the washroom for a few weeks.
My wife used to work in the backcountry. Lots of unpaved remote roads. Bears apparently do not shit in the woods. They shit on the road.
